Turkey is a country of true beauty with breathtaking scenery and a wonderful array of experiences waiting to be explored. It is known as the Cradle of Civilization, in fact many civilizations have been here since before 6,500 BC.

Turkey is central to Europe, to Asia, to Russia, and to the Middle East. It also borders 3 major seas, the Black Sea to the north, the Aegean in the west and the Mediterranean in the south. Turkey has a coastline stretching for over 8,000 kilometres.

Turkey has a population of approximately 71 million with 75% of the population under 35 and covers an area of around 800,000 square kilometres.

There are three major mountainous regions which dominant the landscape in Turkey. The Pontic mountains in the north, the Taurus mountains which dominant the Mediterranean to the south and finally Mount Agri (old Ararat) in the east, where Noah's Ark is proposed to have landed, which is 5,137 metres form sea level.

Two of the Seven Wonders of the World are in Turkey, the Temple of Artemis in Efes and Mausoleum at Halicarnassus in Bodrum.

Modern Turkey has excellent marinas, extremely high quality hotels and restaurants, bustling food and clothes markets, top quality nightclubs, a fantastic climate with over 300 days of sunshine, and all the sport and leisure activities one can imagine.

When visiting Turkey the hospitality shown by the Turkish people allows all nations to relax and have a wonderful time in the land were dreams became reality. Education

The Turkish education is of a high standard since the system was restructured in 1997 to accommodate the vibrant and dynamic country. At present there is no charge for children which attend a state school. As in the UK education for children is compulsory.

The secondary education system is for three years and is applied for after completing secondary school. In order for students to go to university they are required to pass an examination set by the universities.

Approximately 1.5 million students apply to the Turkish universities each year and only around 250,000 pass the examinations which are very demanding. With more people choosing to live in Turkey the government has opened up numerous international schools were English is spoken. There are also schools which cater for children with various special needs.

Health Care

The Turkish health system is regarded by many to be of a high standard. The health system also has a sickness insurance service that cover’s all of the citizens. Throughout the Turkish hospitals and dentistry’s the English language is spoken.

Climate

Turkey has a wonderful climate all year round with over 300 days of sunshine. In addition it also has over 1,500 kilometres of Mediterranean coastline which will surely promote an out door lifestyle that so many of us desire.

In the Eastern Mediterranean region the summer climate is very hot and dry, during the winter months the climate is warm and mild with most of the rain fall only from November to February.

The average summer temperature is around 86° - 105° F (30° - 40° C) and in the winter the average temperature is usually above 50° F (10° - 19° C). Therefore you can sunbath for nine months of the year with the excellent climate that Turkey has especially in the eastern Mediterranean region. The Antalya region of Turkey is also a new comer for the winter sun destinations now competing with the likes of Tenerife and Cyprus.

About Alanya

The eastern Mediterranean region of Turkey has everything to offer and more. It is steeped in history with numerous historical sites and ancient cities, such as Perge, Aspendos and Side. The sport and leisure activities available in Alanya and Belek will keep even the most energetic people busy.

Alanya is Turkey’s hottest holiday destination, with breathtaking views of the 16 mile long coastline and the panoramic backdrop of the fabulous pine clad Tarus mountains. Thus giving Alanya that exotic and majestic feel.

 

Belek on the other hand is a Golfers Paradise boasting no fewer than 5 national and international Golf clubs. The area is popular for the jet set and it also has plans for a further 15 golf courses within the next 10 years, with the aim of being Europe’s capital for golf. This area is a real hot spot and one that should not be missed by the smart investors.

 

Alanya is rich in history, bathed in sunshine and also has an air of the exotic. It is a large popular resort which lies at one end of a rocky promontory and is bordered along the front by two beautiful beaches, the 13 kilometre long eastern beach and the three kilometre long western beach, named Cleopatra beach. This beach was named after the famous Egyptian Queen Cleopatra. It is suggested that the Egyptian Queen had taken her morning dips near this beach.

 

Alanya is truly a beautiful resort and has something to offer for everyone. Between the two glorious beaches is the 13th century Seljuk fortress which offers visitors the most breathtaking views over Alanya. Throughout Alanya the southern slopes of the Taurus Mountains dominate the background, and with the many orange, lemon and banana groves, this area is truly paradise.

 

Today Alanya is a modern resort which has numerous top class hotels, fish restaurants, cafes, bars and nightclubs, not to mention the wonderful array of water sports to offer on the golden sandy beaches. Along the popular harbour and city centre area are countless boutiques including handcrafts, leather, cloths, jewellery, handbags and many more which will keep the keenest shoppers occupied.

 

Throughout the summer months there are many festivals in this region including the international folklore festival and numerous concerts in the ancient amphitheatre of Aspendos that is over 2,000 years old.

 

When in Alanya it is advised to explore the area. There are countless boat trips from the harbour which provides tours allowing you to discover the nearby caves including the girls cave, lovers cave, phosphorus cave and the Damlatas cave. The latter is suggested to be good for asthmatics due to the air inside the cave.

 

Another place which is recommended to explore is a day trip to Dim Cayi valley which is only 15 km east of Alanya. This glorious area is set back in the mountains and has numerous restaurants located on the river which is surrounded by pine forests and snow capped mountains. Due to its location Dim Cayi is a beautiful setting to relax, unwind and enjoy the Turkish cuisine and fine wines whilst cooling down from the warm summer’s sun.

About Belek Golf Resort

The Belek region on the Mediterranean coast is truly a golfer’s paradise with 5 golf clubs. There are plans for another 14 courses within the next 10 years, with 6 already under construction, bringing the total to an amazing 20 golf courses. Belek golf resort has plans to become Europe’s number 1 golfing destination.

It is a favourite destination for Turkey’s jet set and with its excellent location being only 30 kilometres (30 mins) from the airport, this area of the Turkish Rivera has great investment potential.

The region has 32 four or five star hotels and a high class holiday village. Belek is also 1 ½ hours from saklikent ski resort.

Belek golf area became a popular holiday resort in 1984 and today is described as a paradise on earth. The five golf clubs in Belek are the National golf club, Gloria Golf resort, Antalya Golf Club, Tat Golf Club, and Nobilis Golf Club.

Gloria Golf Club

Gloria golf course was designed by the famous designer Michael Gayon in 1997 after two years of construction. It is a championship golf course with a par of 72 and a total length of 6288m. The course is ideally located alongside the sea and pine forests and has a total of seven lakes.

The National Golf Course

The national golf course is a 18 hole championship course, the course is 6232 metres long and has a par of 72. It was designed by the professional golfer David Feherty and played host to the PGA European Turkish Seniors Open. The course was designed in mind with no two holes being the same.

The setting of this course is truly breathtaking; the holes have been sculptured around a forest of eucalyptus with panoramic views from every hole of the snow capped Tarus Mountains.

In addition, it has numerous natural lakes throughout which will surely test golfers of all abilities. In the year 2000 the national golf course won international recognition, being ranked number 42 in the UK’s Golf world magazine and number 39 in mainland Europe.

Antalya Golf Club

Antalya golf club has two great golf courses, the Pasha and the Sultan. They were designed by leading architects European Golf Design together with senior tour professional David Jones.

The playing surfaces at these courses are of the highest standard, combine that with the stunning landscapes, towering umbrella pines, crystal clear lakes, perfect weather and snow capped Taurus Mountains and you will be guaranteed an unforgettable golfing experience.

The Pasha course is suited for golfers with a low to medium handicap and the sultan for golfers with a medium to high handicap.

Tat Golf Club

Tat golf course is the first and only 27 hole championship golf course in Turkey. For fanatic golfers this is a dream vacation with three different options of 9 hole arrangements.

This course was designed by Hawtree of England Architects.

Part of the course runs along side the wonderful turquoise Mediterranean Sea with glorious views of the snow capped Taurus Mountains.

Noblis Golf Club

The Nobilis golf course was designed by Dave Thomas and is a favourite amongst visiting golfers. Throughout the course the mature trees create a beautiful setting for playing golf.

At first this course appears quite easy however there is numerous well placed hazards and dog legs that will test golfers with all skill levels. The course is suitable for straight hitters.

About Saklikent Ski Resort

"Saklikent ski resort is only 1 ½ hours from Belek Golf Resort"

Saklikent ski resort is located only 1 hour from the city centre of Antalya, set back in the Beydag mountain range. The ski resort is 2550 m above sea level.

Due to its close proximity to Belek it is one of the few places in the world were you can swim in the warm turquoise sea, play a round of golf in the morning and ski in the mountain ranges in the afternoon.

 

Saklikent ski resort is open from December to mid April and has a snow depth between 0.5 -1 m. Imagine owning your own golf villa and being able to enjoy the warm Mediterranean sun and sea with the added bonus of skiing on the wonderful natural pistes.

Saklikent ski resort has three main ski runs. The saklibel ski run is for guests who are amateur and medium level skiers. This ski run is 1700 m in length with a height of 2000m in the final station. Hourly capacity for this ski run is 800 skiers.

The two other ski runs are the Gez Teleski and Piste which is preferred by professional skiers. On this run the height of the line is 900m and the height of the final station is 2450m, the difference in elevation being 400m. Hourly capacity on these ski runs is 600.

The Pistes ski run is excellent for snowboard enthusiasts as it has magnificent powered snow and natural location.
